The parking lot at liberty is huge. Adding some color to some spaces will give it character and its own pizzazz.

Parking spots are great for the students who drive to school. The parking lot has more than 500 spots for the staff and students. The only way everyone is able to tell the difference between their spots is the small number located at the front of the spot. But other than that, every parking spot looks the same.

Seniors are in luck. For the first time at Liberty, National Honor Society (NHS) is allowing seniors to paint their spots for $20. They can sign up at lunch or during AI. This offer is only allowed to seniors, but they are able to paint whatever they would like in their designated parking spot.

“I’m going to paint a golf putter, and then circles with my rewards that I’ve received around it,” senior Zoee Harrington said.

Students will be able to stay after school and paint on Oct. 23 and 24.

“I plan on painting mine on the 23rd,” senior Taylor Cunningham said. “I’m painting a golf ball with a red bow and my monogram in blue on the golf ball.”

NHS is providing waters and snack to all the seniors who participate. Students also must provide their own paint and art supplies.

“We are painting the spots white as a base, but other than that seniors must provide their own paint. They can use any type of permanent paint they would like,” NHS sponsor Ms. Hallemeier said.

Liberty is the first high school in the Wentzville School District to paint parking spots and seniors are super excited. Seniors shouldn’t feel stressed about painting their spot. According to Ms. Hallemeier, seniors will have other opportunity to paint their parking spots. There will be another opportunity later this year, and another in the spring of 2019.
