Unstoppable Offense

TImberland piles up 48 points in win against Liberty.

The Timberland offense proved to be too much for Liberty to handle Friday.

The visiting Eagles lost 48-7 and are now 0-2 on the season.  They’ll look for their first win Friday in the home opener against St. Dominic.

Against Timberland, the Eagles tried with everything they had, but Timberland sent them home in a tough defeat. Timberland had a long kickoff return by Ramel Richmond capped off by an 8-yard touchdown run by Jarrett Wilson.

It was all downhill from there. Liberty fumbled the ball during their kickoff leading to another Timberland score making it 13-0 within minutes of the first quarter.

But that didn’t stop Liberty from trying to make a comeback.

The Eagles scored on a 77-yard running play by Wesley Hines making it 13-7 in the first quarter with minutes to go. As it gave Liberty the hope we needed, it was quickly shattered when Timberland returned a fumble for 6, and making it 20-7.

In the second quarter of the game, and with the score 33-7, the Eagles tried their best to score again but kept getting shut down by Timberland’s massive defense. Timberland’s offense was unstoppable, scoring touchdown after touchdown, and there was nothing Liberty could do about it. By the end of the first half, it was 40-7.

The second half of the game was intense, play after play, tackle after tackle, but by the end of the third quarter, Timberland had scored yet another touchdown making it 46-7. Timberland later added a safety making it 48-7.

Will the varsity football team of Liberty be able to shake this off? Or will they struggle to get back up? We won’t know until Liberty’s next varsity game, the home opener against St. Dominic at 7 p.m.
