Everyone has questioned their purpose before, especially what it means to be alive. Graduation season seems to be running at students but there is still so much left to learn and so many questions left unanswered.
According to recent studies made by eSchool News, 37-40% of seniors don’t know what career path they want to go down by the time they graduate; that means that even more are undecided on what their individual purpose is.
Finding your purpose obviously isn’t an easy thing to do, and no matter how much contemplating you do on it, it will point you to a clear answer.
“I think I found my purpose through a series of events that changed my perspective of life,” Bri Holliday (10) said.
Life purpose means the career path, activity, hobby, etc. that gives an individual the most lifelong fulfillment. Purpose is synonymous with appurtenance, as finding belonging in a community goes hand in hand with purpose.

The connection to the aforementioned community that you rely on and surround yourself with can show you your purpose. In general, the people that we surround ourselves with build our character in a spectrum of ways. For example, a friend that is really good at English builds your vocabulary and changes your perspective on the subject. In a more broad way, our interactions with people and communities shape our character and there we define our purpose and our belonging.
We only get one life, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we only have one purpose. Almost everyone has more than one hobby or activity that they find purpose in. It all depends on how each individual figures out their niche, hence the importance to try as much as you can to find out what it is.
Purpose comes to most in doing things they love and jobs they enjoy, but finding that purpose can come at any point, and some are never even certain on what their purpose is. Everything depends upon the perspective of the individual and what their personal goals are. Each person has their own purpose which makes all of us unique and independent from each other. Everyone finds their purpose in different ways.
