As we start to inch closer to the end of the school year, students are getting more eager for summer to come, but in order to get into summer break, students first have to prepare for what’s to come before. With the end of the school year comes final assignments and exams that our peers need to start preparing for. Some are struggling not sure what, where or how to start.
“When it comes for me to study for my finals, I don’t have a specific routine. I just start when I feel like the time’s right,” Jocelyn Mattie (11) said. “I like to use study apps and use postcards to help me memorize things, and I do agree working with more than one person has a big difference to it.”
A new year of high school also calls for new students. This is the freshmen’s first year of taking the EOC (End Of Course) exams. That also means new ways to study. In middle school, taking the MAP test, which is close to EOC, may not seem as important but now the big stuff is to come and it’s time to start prepping.
“Now that I’m in high school I feel like tests matter way more and I want to try and study more,” Jonah Chisholm (9) said.Â
Teachers also have a lot of preparing and end of the year responsibilities to take care of. They have to be the ones who make sure the students are on track to where they are supposed to be and make sure that they did their job correctly in teaching all the material needed for the EOCs. While preparing for these finals, the teachers supply the students with study materials to help them understand everything that they are expected to know.
“The study guides the teachers give us really do help a lot. The Blooklets also help when studying,” Chisholm said.Â
Overall, test season is very important and the way that you prepare matters and can potentially change your future for the better or worse. Teachers and students both work very hard during this time to do well and get it over with so that they can go into the summer feeling excited and proud.
