New building technician Grant Descher is not new to the Wentzville School District community.
“I live in the area and so opening in the Wentzville School District made the most sense so I’m familiar with the community and the town,” Descher said.
Descher was hired in October to become Liberty’s building technician, replacing Chris Meyer who left the district. Not only has Descher lived in the area but he’s got some experience in the field.
“I’ve always liked working with computers and after a little bit of searching for a career path, it seemed like a natural career and I really enjoy helping people as well so a job like this I can do both,” Descher said.
Head secretary Lisa Berghoff said the position was in need. After the previous tech. left, LHS had to rely on other district techs from other areas to come in and assist until the job opening was filled.
“We were hoping that we would get somebody that would be attentive and somebody who would get the job done and someone who can be part of the Liberty family and I think he fits in perfectly,” Berghoff said.
Descher shows that he really cares about Liberty and all of the people inside by showing his expertise and helping kids by fixing their Chromebooks. However, he doesn’t just help fix students’ Chromebooks. Any technical problems around the school, he’s on the job ready to fix it.
Not only is Descher wanting to help people in the school, but before he was at Liberty he was helping people around the country.
“I was working at a call center and I was taking employee issues across the country over the phone and either solving those myself or triaging those to another team,” Descher said.
If you have any questions about computers or technology ask Descher if you want to get into the technology career path.
“Just trying to get my feet into the door right now,” Descher said.
