Pamela Capelletti (11) is an exchange student from Milan, Italy and has been attending Liberty since the beginning of the school year.
Capelletti will be leaving this month on Dec. 28. She is 16 years old, a junior in high school, and so far enjoying school here.
“I like it so much,” Capellettia said.
Biggest Differences
Capelletti mentions how big the differences between Italy and America are.
“Here you can wear everything,” Capelletti said.
In Italy, she wasn’t allowed to wear casual attire to school like sweatpants and a hoodie because there’s a specific dress code. She says the people at Liberty are extremely kind to her which is always a great thing to hear.
Capelletti also mention how different the weather is.
“In Italy it’s really, really, hot,” Capelletti said.
Education in Italy
Another major difference she mentions is the schooling system. In Italy the learning processes could be a lot different.
“You have to pay a lot and you cannot choose classes,” Capelletti said.
At Liberty, students have the option to take whatever class they think will benefit them the most. Capelletti is in drama club here, however in Italy if she wanted to be in a club or play a sport at school, she would have to pay a certain amount of money to participate in said group, club, or sport.
Adjusting to America
Capelletti studied English for two years in Italy before coming to America and says she’s still learning how to adjust to how things are in the U.S.
“It was so hard,” Capelletti said.
She also mentioned that the food in Italy is much better than in America. However, Cappelletti says that even though the change was hard to adjust to, she’s made many friends at Liberty and that she’s liked her experience.
Leaving America
Capelletti’s experience as an exchange student is coming to an end, but she’s had a great experience so far.
We’ll miss Capelletti as much as she’ll miss us and it’s been great having her at Liberty so far.
