Dutch Bros may not be a name you recognize yet, but with the grand opening this spring, it could just be the new hottest coffee spot.
Dutch Bros is a coffee chain predominately found on the west coast. Founded in Oregon in 1992, the coffee shop was first franchised in 2000. The company is now found in 18 states including Missouri, but for the first time Dutch Bros will be in the St. Louis area.
The new location is under construction at 982 Bryan Rd, O’Fallon and projected to open between April and June. This location is directly across from a Starbucks and will have some competition.
While many students here may be unfamiliar with Dutch Bros, there are multiple locations in the Kansas City area. Marian Kehrman (11) attends Lee’s Summit West High School and is a frequent customer.
“I like their prices. Compared to places like Starbucks, they cost less,” Marian Kehrman said.
There are many coffee shops around O’Fallon, but customers say Dutch Bros is unique. Lilly Brown (12) has been to Dutch Bros. before and is looking forward to having a location close by.
“I’m not very big on sweet drinks and it’s not as sweet as 7 Brew,” Brown said.
Dutch Bros appeals to those with more savory tastes as well as people with a sweet tooth.
“My go to is a simple mango smoothie, they’re so yummy,” Kehrman said.
Not only is there a variety of drinks to choose from, but a wide array of foods. With such a large menu, Dutch Bros helps the indecisive customers find drinks they’ll love.
“They also have these specialty drinks. I think last time I got a s’mores coffee and I haven’t really had any specialty drinks like that around here,” Brown said.
While you may not have a love of Dutch Bros yet, patrons say there are many reasons to love.
“Just try it, it’s a new place, you might like it,” Brown said.
“I would definitely recommend it,” Kehrman added.
