School to Dismiss Two Hours Early on Friday

Winter storm to hit area this weekend but already takes a toll on school activities

You may think winter has come and gone. But think again.

According to the National Weather Service of St. Louis, in surrounding areas around Liberty, snow totals are predicted around 6-8″. The National Weather Service has also put the St. Louis area under a Winter Storm Watch until Sunday, Jan. 13.

The storm is expected to start 3 p.m. on Friday. The Wentzville School District announced Thursday night that school will be dismissed two hours early on Friday.

1st: 7:15- 7:50

2nd: 7:55 – 8:30

3rd: 8:35- 9:10

5th: 9:15- 9:50

6th: 9:55 – 11:10 (longest class due to lunches)

A: 9:55-10:20

B: 10:20-10:45

C: 10:45- 11:10

7th: 11:15- 11:46

8th: 11:50-12:15

By Thursday afternoon, the impending storm had already started to impact Liberty sports. The girls basketball game Warrenton tournament that was scheduled for Friday, Jan. 11, has been moved to Thursday, Jan. 10 due to the pending winter storm. The girls basketball play Hannibal at 5:30 p.m. at Warrenton in the tournament. Due to the storm, the wrestling tournament at St. Charles High has been canceled.

The boys basketball game at Fort Zumwalt South Friday was also canceled. A rescheduled game will be announced at a later date.

Update: As of 3:36 p.m. the St. Louis area is under a Winter Storm Warning.

Update #2: Wentzville School District has called a 2 hour early release.

Update #3: As of 6:32 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, KMOV (Channel 4) is forecasting 6-9” of snow and forecasting the snow expected to start at noon on Friday, Jan. 11.

Update #4: As of 11:18 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, KTVI (Channel 2) is forecasting 8-12” of snow.
