Competition can be a very useful experience for high school students. It is a strong learning experience to prepare them for the future.

The speech and dramatics club participated in the GSL Speech and Dramatics Tournament on Oct 21st and 22nd at Liberty.

Liberty’s students only competed on the second day of the competition. The 21st consisted of debate. Liberty hosted this, but did not compete.

Jake Denunzio, Alyssa Fay, Julia Wolz, and Allison Linck all competed in the dramatics section which took place on the 22nd.

Denunzio entered two categories, finishing first place in dramatic interpretation, and second in humorous interpretation.

“I was very excited but also quite anxious about the tournament,” Denunzio said. “I really did not expect to win first and second in my categories. I felt amazed and accomplished that I was able to win two top three places in only the first tournament of the year.”

Another Liberty student who competed, junior Julia Wolz placed sixth overall out of 19 schools in her category.
