If you take a look at the sports here at Liberty, we have everything from football to baseball. But there is one sport that is very popular in this area. That sport is hockey. I personally believe that hockey should be a sport at Liberty because many people in this school including me, hockey is their favorite sport. If we have football, baseball and softball, why can’t we have hockey?
The reason why Liberty doesn’t have a hockey team because it is considered by the Wentzville School District as a club sport and not an actual sport sponsored by MSHSAA , according to activity director Mr. Eldredge . I believe hockey shouldn’t be considered a club sport because the sport is one of the fastest growing sports in this region, according to the hockey analysts. Five hockey players from St. Louis region were drafted into the NHL this year which includes Matthew Tkachuk, Joseph Woll, Clayton Keller, Logan Brown, Luke Kunin and Trent Frederic. St. Louis had the most players drafted in first round in this recent draft than Canada alone.
