International Qualifiers for the 2021 DECA Competition.

Sruthi Ramesh, Editor-In-Chief of LHStoday

In this challenging school year, Liberty’s DECA club has stepped up their commitment to the program.

Fourteen students have qualified for international competition.

“This is the most state and international qualifiers we’ve ever had,” DECA sponsor Ms. Taylor said. DECA has only had three international qualifiers since 2013. “Our numbers were high, but we focus more on quality instead of quantity because we knew what it would be like this year.”

Everything has been virtual for this competition season.

“They are not talking to judges; they have to record everything. And they only have a certain window of time,” Ms. Taylor said.

For internationals, qualifiers first have to test on April 12. They then role-play a week later, and then we find if they are even finalists. International awards are on May 6.
