Liberty’s juniors and seniors went head-to-head in a game of flag football at Heartland Field in Wentzville on Sunday, Sept. 26. The annual powder puff game is held to raise money for the senior grad night.

The game was very competitive, with a back-and-forth play between the seniors and juniors. Every time the seniors scored, the juniors came right back with a score themselves. It was a tough game between the juniors and seniors, but in the end, the seniors found a way to win the game, 38-29.

One of the star players for the senior team was Hailey Jolliff, who scored three of the seniors’ touchdowns. Jolliff recalled that her favorite part of the game was the environment. “Hyping your teammates” and everyone being competitive were some of her highlights.

Anna Hillgartner was one of the team members of the junior team. Some of Hillgartner’s favorite moments were when Amira Khayyat (12) intercepted the ball, and when Jolliff made a touchdown. Anna got to play against her older sister Ella, saying that another one of her favorite moments was blocking her sister’s pass.

Jayce Haun and Ethan Weiler were some of the junior cheerleaders this year. It is tradition that while the girls play the game, the boys put on a halftime show for the crowd. Both agreed that the highlight was the halftime show.

“We’ve been working on this for three weeks now, so seeing it all come together is the best part,” Haun said.

In the end, it was a hard-fought win for the seniors. Good luck to the class of 2022 in the rest of their senior year.
