Is President Joseph R. Biden fit to lead the United States? For almost a year, preceding the president’s election, there have been people asking themselves this simple question.
President Joseph Robinette Biden, born November 6, 1942, has been questioned in his mental and physical health in past years, especially during his presidency and following several speeches he has given.
In a holiday call-in session, the president was finishing a phone call and the caller, a former police officer, ended with the phrase made famous by: “Merry Christmas and Let’s Go Brandon.” Biden’s response? “I agree, Let’s go Brandon.” (Let’s Go Brandon has become a euphemism for a derogatory term aimed towards President Biden.) Why is this significant? It gives the appearance that the president is wholly unaware of the nation’s response to his presidency overall.

The Democratic Party has experienced a sharper drop in confidence with the current administration than Republicans. This is important because the drop in confidence of the administration on both sides of the aisle is likely to have an impact on midterms this year and the 2024 presidential election.
President Biden has had a stutter since he was a child, but conservative news anchors and conservative citizens have called his stutter into question and have asked how it could present the United States as weak on the world stage. Conservatives have also noted that he has a tendency to stumble over words, mix people up, forget details— all of which could point to early stages of dementia. This is worrisome because if the leader of our country, who happens to be one of the most powerful men in the world, turns out to have dementia, America as a whole will look weak.
The Republican Party has been attempting to build its case against the president for some time. While misspeaking is not unique to any political candidate or even any person in general, the Republican Party has also brought into question a clip of Biden saying that he has been instructed not to speak on certain topics and was instructed on which reporters to call on in a press conference.
Another clip shows president Biden calling the White House Fox News correspondent: “a stupid son of a b***h.” This calls into question the President’s professionalism. If the President looks unprofessional, America as a whole could earn a worse global reputation than we already have.
I am of the opinion that President Biden should step down in favor of having a younger president, and instead spend time with his family. The president, who is now nearing the age of 80, has been in politics for nearly 50 years and if I were the president I would be very content with my political career.
