Each day is typically the same for freshman Gabe McCrary. Over the summer, he went to the Renaud Center every day of the week except Sunday. He would spend about four hours shooting hoops and lifting weights.

McCrary plays basketball and hopes to make the J.V. team this year. Every single day after school he goes to the gym for at least two hours. Basketball is his biggest passion and he lives his life to play the sport.

McCrary has spent the past year getting ready for his first high school season by practicing and playing for multiple club teams.

“Play people who are better than you so you yourself can become better,” McCrary said.

He dedicates many hard working hours to basketball everyday and has been doing this since third grade. He balances his school, social life and basketball equally well.

“Practice for at least an hour everyday,” he said.

McCrary is someone people look up to because he has such a passion for what he does.

“Everyone knows Gabe plays basketball,” said Toni Patterson.

Most high school athletes don’t really extend their sport outside of the school season, but McCrary does.
