Some people run, sleep or play video games when they are under stress, but freshman Shaina Feinstein decides to take a different approach. She dances.

Feinstein is also a good student in school and incredibly kind.

When Feinstein was 6 years old, she began taking dance lessons after some convincing from her friend, Kassidy. She began with ballet and lyrical, but currently also takes pointe and jazz at Vibrant Living Arts twice a week several hours a day.

She told me that she would enjoy teaching dance classes when she gets older so she can pass down her knowledge and love for the art.

“Dance is a way for me to relieve stress and anxiety,” Feinstein said. “It takes the focus off of my daily worries. I can just have fun and forget my burdens and struggles.”

Shaina’s classmates agree with her statement and say that other sports and activities help relieve stress.

“I could definitely see how dance relieves stress, running relieves mine,” said freshman Aly Lough.

So as you can tell, letting loose a little and dancing can definitely wash away your stress.
