Students in Culinary Arts lll prepare to serve Liberty teachers breakfast.

Teaching can be a demanding job, so it is important that teachers begin their day with a good breakfast. Fortunately at Liberty, once a month, teachers and staff are able to eat breakfast made by their very own students.

The staff of Liberty was provided breakfast by Culinary Arts lll on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 19. These breakfasts will be provided once a month for $2.

The teachers were served pancakes, brown sugar bacon, a slice of orange and their choice of a muffin.

“Culinary lll kids need to run their class like a business, so we have to operate like a restaurant,” Ms. Pizzo said.

To market these events, the class decides on a theme. This month’s theme was Breakfast Bar; each month they will come up with a new theme.

Next month, the theme will be EagleEATS; a play on the term UberEATS. The breakfast, biscuits and gravy, will be served directly to the teachers.

“I love my job,” Ms. Pizzo said. “It’s so fun, the kids are great. I couldn’t do it without the kids.”

The students in Culinary lll are able to make these breakfasts through the program ProStart, which is apart of the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF.)

The students are able to serve teachers, however they cannot serve other students. The students in the class are graded for these events. This program is purchased by the Wentzville School District.
