This movie is the beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is the culmination of 19 movies over the past decade.

The MCU involves more beloved Marvel characters than just the original Avengers. It also includes the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Ant-Man. All characters that will be seen in the upcoming Avengers movie.

The plot of the movie surrounds the six infinity stones which are extremely powerful and can be used collectively to take over the universe. A Titan named Thanos wants to obtain all the infinity stones and the stones have been little easter eggs littered throughout the Marvel movies.

The first infinity stone surfaced in “Captain America: The First Avenger” in 2011. It was the blue space stone that was contained by the Tesseract and is currently in the possession of Loki, Thor’s adopted brother. The red reality stone appeared two years later in “Thor: The Dark World” as the Aether and at the end of the movie is turned over to the Collector, a collector of intergalactic oddities. In 2014, “Guardians of the Galaxy” was released and we finally learned the backstory of the infinity stones as well as got to see the destructive power of the purple power stone. The power stone was entrusted to the Nova Corps on the planet Xandar at the end of the movie. The yellow mind stone shows up in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” when we discover that it has been the power source of Loki’s scepter the whole time. It currently resides in Vision’s forehead and is what gives him power. The last infinity stone that has been revealed in the MCU was the green time stone in “Doctor Strange” inside the Eye of Agamotto and is under Doctor Strange’s protection.

The sixth and final infinity stone is the soul stone and, though there are lots of theories, no one knows when it will pop up.

If you are a true fan of Marvel movies, you won’t miss your opportunity to see it tonight.
