Due to inclement weather, Thursday’s performance of Footloose has been moved to Sunday Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. The matinee will follow Friday and Saturday’s shows, which will both remain at 7 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, Wentzville received more than five inches of snow, marking one of the largest November snowstorms in the area. The school district canceled all classes and activities to ensure the students’ safety.

Drama club was most impacted by the impending cold. Tech week was filled with talk of postponement, adding to the anxious energy that comes with putting on a show. Sophomore Alliesa Riles, who plays “Rusty” in Footloose, admits that the approaching snowstorm was stressful.

“Everyone was really nervous,” Riles said. “I was frustrated because of all the tension (the snowstorm) built up.”

Still, the cast and crew did not let the snow dampen their spirits. Through their own traditions and support of each other, their delayed opening night will be performed with joy on Friday night.

Ms. Gehrke, the director of Footloose, made sure her students would have a positive outlook during tech week. Cast and crew members were randomly paired together to give each other encouragement leading up to the first performance.

“I think it helped us a lot and greatly improved the overall mood of everyone this week,” senior Cameron Jones, who plays “Reverend Shaw” said. “It will be a great thing to continue on with for future shows.”

Junior Alyssa Bailey worked on set and deck crew for Footloose and is excited to show the school what they have been working on over the past months. She will be cheering on the cast and the crew during their performances.

“Footloose is a different type of musical than we’ve ever done before,” Bailey said. “It will be cool to see how the actors carry on their different roles.”

When asked, Jones said he and his castmates have been eager to put on Footloose since Thursday.

“We’re ready to perform our hearts out,” Jones said with a smile.

Tickets purchased for Thursday night are transferable to any of the three performances. If you bought Thursday tickets but cannot attend, email [email protected] to request a refund.
