Chiara Gunther is a foreign exchange student from Germany and they do not have homecoming in her country.

The only dance that they have is prom but not every high school student is able to go to prom until they are seniors. Since Chiara is living in the United States this year, she was able to attend her first ever homecoming.

Chiara has never been to homecoming before so she has never had the chance to participate in spirit week. In Germany, the only time students had a spirit week was after the seniors were done testing, but again only seniors did that.

Chiara participated in three out of five days for Liberty’s spirit week. She dressed up for color wars and wore all green, she also dressed up for pajama day. Chiara participated in tacky tourist day; she wore a Hawaiian shirt.

Chiara attended her first homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 8th. She went with a date but also a group of friends.

“Homecoming was very fun,” Chiara said.

Chiara had a lot of fun dancing with her friends.

“The music was different so I didn’t really know how to dance to it,” she said. “It wasn’t like the stuff I hear on the radio, so I only danced a little bit.”

Homecoming was an amazing experience for Chiara and she would go again if she ever gets the chance.
