The best advice differs for each and every person and the word “advice” can have many different definitions. However, giving and receiving advice are two very different things. Even though it can be hard to take advice to heart and actually listen to it in most scenarios, it is very worth it.
When you’re going through something or even just when you’re just going through everyday life, a good piece of advice can be very beneficial. When you’re going through some difficult times the right advice can really help to get you through it.
One example of this is advice that Cade Davis (9) was given. It’s short and sweet and very common but it really helps. Davis’ favorite advice is “Never give up.” He says this helps him most while playing hockey but it is also just useful in general.
Another place that advice comes in handy is when youre needing motivation. Some motivating advice is one that Adrian Campos (12) had seen in a book, “You can’t add days to your life, but you can add life to your days.” This has helped him stay motivated and add some purpose into his days.
Good advice also helps when you are in a place of doubt. Doubting yourself or viewing yourself as anything less than amazing can really hurt your happiness. One of the best ways to lift your spirits is to think of some advice that you’ve been given. Someone who does this is Madison Brannan (10). She has given herself some great advice. Brannan said “Don’t take what someone says about you to heart because you know yourself and nobody else knows you for you.”
Another case of fighting against self doubt is advice that Ellie Rentfro (10). Rentfro’s mom has given her the best advice she could ask for. “I don’t need to prove myself to anyone. If I know what I can do, then it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.” Because of what her mom has told her, she worries less about what thoughts other people have about her.
