Is the Iphone 7 really better than the 6

Throwing in a new battery, screen and losing the audio jack, iPhone claims to have a new phone. This phone is certainly an upgrade from the iPhone 6, but the question today is, is it worth the upgrade?

The iPhone 7 is notoriously known for the loss of the audio jack. Apple states that the new Airpods will easily replace this loss for all music and youtube lovers alike.

The problem with this though is that the AirPods are so small they’re about the size of a penny/quarter, making them easy to lose, at least too easy to lose for a fee of $169.99. If you do lose one though, you’ll be looking at a nice $50 dollar fee just to replace one, and that’s if you still have the receipt.

The specs for the iPhone 7 isn’t too different than before. Packing in a new A10 Fusion processor (which is claimed to be 40 percent faster than the 6S’s A9) the phone seems to run faster at some points, though it’s hard to notice. Processors also have a big affect on battery but this one isn’t efficient enough to be that much of an upgrade.

The true battery upgrade comes with the actual battery though. Apple claims to have two more hours of use with the iPhone 7 than the previous models. This is great, if it were true. Yes, the battery does feel longer but with video tests. The phone barely pushes ahead of its predecessor, giving off a 30-45 min. boost.

The last noticeable upgrade is the camera. iPhone is known to have great cameras with every new installment in the franchise and this model pushes the phone even further. With the new six-element lens, the phone pushes the idea of what a good picture is.  Sticking with that 12MP camera really keeps the photo sharper than ever and it looks great.

Now that the main specs of the phone have been covered, is it worth the upgrade? Personally, no.

It’s a great upgrade with a smoother design than ever, but with the exclusion of the audio jack for a better speaker and with those speakers not even being that powerful, is a major loss for minimal gain. Also with a lot of the “new” features not being so new and revolutionary for the Apple consumer, it’s just better to keep your 6/6s. Though if you’re with an earlier model than the 6, it would be a major upgrade, so do it.
