It’s that time of the year again, another step closer to getting that diploma. The excitement of choosing the classes to take next year and debating which classes you want to take more than the others and seeing what new classes are being offered.

New classes being added this year are AP Research, Advanced Marketing II, Broadcast Media, Magazine, Online News, Guitar I, Guitar II, Piano I, Piano II, Technical Theatre III, Sculpture II, Ceramics II, Ignite!, Healthcare Academy, Ignite! Startup/Business Solutions, Study Hall.

Guidance Counselors will be coming into the English classes on Jan. 10, 11, 12th and the cut off date will be Feb. 5th.

When choosing the classes, take the required classes for graduation and and think about post high school plans.

“Do your research, consider post high school plans, read the course description, pay attention to the prerequisites, talk to their teachers, parents, siblings or get information from students who have taken the class before” said Guidance Counselor Mrs. Wootten. “Consider overall workload inside and out of class and take the more challenging classes that they are more interested in or excel at that class”

Colleges also look for certain amount of credits in one area and has a minimum requirement of credits they want in each area to get into that college.

“It is important to look at credits that colleges require you to have in order to attend that college. If thats a college that you really want to go to then you need to make sure you have all the credits they require,” said junior, Mackenzi Sifuentes.

If there isn’t a class that can’t fit into the schedule, pick the most wanted class and take the other class the next year if needed.
