Brewing up a Storm

7-Brew makes its way into Lake Saint Louis and is scheduled to open in late May

The construction of the upcoming new 7-Brew on Sommers Road. It is scheduled to open in late May but an exact date has not yet been determined.

Coffee is a popular drink many people like. You may know or have heard of popular coffee shops like Starbucks, Dunkin, Dutch Bros, and many more. The past few years pop-up coffee shops have been becoming popular in lots of areas, and starting to become a bit more common.

New buildings may take storm in your area, and grow in business while also running others out of business or losing customers. One new pop-up coffee shops going up in the St. Charles County area is 7-Brew. There are currently two locations located on Highway K.

A new location, across from QuikTrip on Sommer Road, emerged nearly overnight. Tentatively scheduled to open at the end of May, the new 7-Brew is in a popular area to gain lots of customers and has everyone talking about the new establishment.

“Our buildings are constructed off-site in two separate pieces and transported to the site to be assembled and completed there,” 7-Brew representative Hope Looper said.

A reason why people might choose 7-Brew over Starbucks is because it’s cheaper. 7-Brew has drink prices that range around from $3 to $7 for a drink and Starbucks is $4 to $9. A trick people say Starbucks does to make you think you’re getting the full deal is putting in lots of ice to take up more room in your drink so it still looks like you’re getting the full amount while getting you to pay more money for any bigger size.

7-Brew’s opening is expected to possibly slow down Starbucks’s customers and even their business. There are lots of mixed reviews on how people like and feel about this new kind of coffee shop coming in people’s areas.

“I love how they’re coffee is sweet and that you can add all your different flavors and types of coffee you want. It’s also cheap compared to most coffees like Starbucks,” sophomore Emerson Stubblefield said.

7-Brew and Starbucks can be different from each other by products, pricing, and even taste. 7-Brew has juices, smoothies, and energy drinks, which are products Starbucks doesn’t really have. This is an advantage for 7-Brew to have different things Starbucks doesn’t.

Some people might think that 7-Brew is a good coffee place, but some may argue that Starbucks is still better.

“It may be a little more expensive than 7-Brew, but the quality of their products are really good,” sophomore Natalie Bohn said. “They also have more options than just coffees, they also have food and treats. So in the end I don’t mind paying a little more in my opinion for a better quality product.”

Both coffee places have products that the other doesn’t have that makes both businesses unique and different in their own way. Some people may argue that one is better than the other. So what do you think? Is 7-Brew a faster, delicious, cheaper, and better way for coffee or is Starbucks still your favorite go-to for coffee?
