Dayvon Bennett, also known as “King Von”, was a professional songwriter and rapper from Chicago. He was born August 9, 1994, and passed away on Nov. 6, 2020, at the age of 26. He was shot after a party celebrating his newest hit release “Welcome to O’block”.

There was an argument between two groups of men that escalated to gunfire, where he was shot. Von was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. This unexpected death from the up-and-coming artist upset his team, family, friends, and fans.

The next day, Timothy Leeks was found responsible for the death of the rapper. It was also discovered that Leeks was associated with rappers “Quando Rondo” and “YoungBoy Never Broke Again”, two other young rappers.

In an Instagram Live, Von said he and YoungBoy didn’t have beef. Rapper “Lil Durk”, an associate signed to the same record label, said on an Instagram Live that “Von was like a brother to me.” He went on to explain how he wanted to get revenge because of the bright future that Leeks had stolen from Von. According to Durk, Von was preparing more albums for his fans and wanted to travel the world with his family.

Von was a father of three and he tried to teach them right. “He wants them to live a good life and stay out the streets,” Durk explained. But now his legacy is continued by his family and fans that shout “We miss you, King Von”.

I believe Von was an inspirational person because he was a good role model for his kids right. He tried to tell them what it’s like in “the streets” and to be a hardworking person in society. Von worked hard for what he wanted and he put in the time to make music and bonds with people. He was also a goofy person and made many laugh through his Instagram Lives. It wa also easy to see how motivated and important his job was to him. That’s why he called himself a “Go-getter.”

I hope to have the same dedication, loyalty, and mindset as King Von because of the hardworking and dedicated person he was. And I’m sad to say that we’ve lost another good rapper too young.
