Sophomore Nolan Bone is a pole vaulter ranked 29th in the nation in his age group among 2019 graduates. With a personal and school record of 14 feet, Bone’s goal height by the end of the year is 15 feet and by the time he is a senior he wants to be vaulting 17 feet.

Bone’s goal is to vault in college. He has not received any letters from schools yet, but if he is vaulting 17 feet, he should be able to go to a big school.

“I’m willing to go to any school that offers but Alabama is the dream school,” Bone said.

Bone was a sprinter in 8th grade when Coach Hill suggested him to pole vault.

“He has progressed so much from 8th grade to now,” Coach Hill said.

In 8th grade, Bone was vaulting 9 feet and now is vaulting 14. He has made this possible with a ton of training. Doing speed training, lifting and technique training every day during the season and at summer camps.

Bone will be wrapping up a very successful season as he finished first in two meets and second in one. He hopes to finish in the top-10 at state.
