When people watch plays, they may think of the character on stage and not the person behind that.

Hannah McCrary is a senior and an inducted member of the thespians who performed in one of Liberty’s three One Act fall plays 13 Ways To Screw Up Your College Interview.

McCrary has an experienced background in acting. Her first play she did was in fourth grade and she’s loved acting ever since.

“I did my plays in middle school, and then I did them through high school,” McCrary said. “Last year, I didn’t act in any plays. I did crew all year last year.”

In 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview, Hannah played Eva, a singer attending a college interview who she describes as “stubborn, hard headed, beats to their own drum and gets what she wants.”

McCrary is certainly dedicated to acting in her freshman year. There wasn’t a theatre program yet so she went to Timberland everyday to participate in their theatre program after school. She played 60s-style singer who narrates/sings the story in Little Shop Of Horrors.

In her sophomore year, she performed in the Liberty play Trouble at the Talent Show where she played her favorite role she’s had as an actor.

“I had to play a really mean person and that’s not who I am,” McCrary said. “It was really cool to play someone who I’m not. Like a polar opposite.”

Theatre director Ms. Willis said that “Hannah is one of those actors who will do anything you tell her to do.”

“She is not afraid to try new things to bring out her character,” Willis said.
