The girls golf team has finished off the regular season strong as the team wrapped up with their best score yet.
On Sept. 24, at the Golf Club of Wentzville, the varsity girls golf athletes competed their last regular season match. During this match, two of the varsity freshman players – Morgan Buckley and Payton Lindsay – shot a record low score of 37.
All other athletes worked hard to keep their score as low as possible. The athletes were competing against rivals, Fort Zumwalt West (FZW). While the FZW team stayed close in score, in the end the Eagles pushed through to gain another victory. Some of the top scoring athletes will now head to districts and championships in a few weeks.
After the match was over, three seniors were recognized for all their hard work throughout their season(s). These seniors were: Sophia Hegyi, Audrey Keller, and Lucy Bowen.
One of the seniors, Lucy Bowen, has been playing golf through her entire high school career.
“I’m sad that it was my last match before GAC’s because I will miss the team,” Bowen said.
Bowen is set to compete at GAC’s, and is excited to be able to compete at it as a senior.
“I am excited to be able to compete at GAC’s,” Bowen said.
These seniors were treated with gift baskets along with sweet treats which were provided by the golf parents. Senior parents showcased their daughter’s senior banner which was hung and shown throughout the course by a golf cart.
