As the boys golf season kicks off, school record-setting player Cole Packingham (11) shares his favorite moment with the team so far.
“My favorite moment was competing against all the other teams at our Bogey Hills tournament,” Packingham said.
Packingham placed fifth at last year’s Class 5 State Tournament and was selected as first-team all-state for the second-straight year.
This season is extremely important to each of the dedicated athletes as they are striving to win conference, and as a team they hope to qualify for state.
“I’d say our strengths are that the team is very talented and young, although with that, not much experience,” assistant coach Jacob Cole said.
Since last season the team has lost two ambitious players, although that’s no concern to Cole.
“I expect everyone to show up to practice trying to get a little better each day,” Cole said.
If the boys make it to state this year, it would be a school record and would show that golf is a team sport. In order to achieve such a significant record, the boys will need to strategize.
“Staying positive is the best way to motivate my teammates.” Packingham said.
This will be a thrilling and remarkable season for these boys, and they are determined to succeed.
