Earth Club began preparing for their rally that was being held on Sept. 26 to help promote and encourage students and staff to vote for this year’s upcoming election in Nov. 23
Members were put into groups and began to prepare the posters that would be used during the rally.
Throughout the process, every member worked hard to prepare their own designs and various styles for their posters.
“Other Earth Club members really encouraged me to come to the rally,” Marissa Varga (12) said. “I’m a member of the cabinet, so as we planned it and as other members talked about it, I got so excited.”
On the morning of, club members that volunteered to participate in the rally, gathered in the front of the school and held their signs as students entered through the front doors.
Club members, Clara Walker (12) & Logan Hinds (12), handed out pamphlets while talking to students that were arriving through the front doors of the school.
“Even if they can’t vote in this election, you can still register to vote if you’re 17 and a half or older,” Walker said. “So I just hope that people will learn why it’s important to vote.”
Throughout the process, every member worked hard to encourage other students and staff to vote and use their voices for the upcoming election.
“It saddens me to see people choose not to vote. I can understand the feeling that your vote doesn’t matter (especially because the electoral college is not required to vote to reflect their district), but to me, voting is about saying ‘I did what I could’,” Leah Dudley (11) said.
As the upcoming election approaches, Earth club hopes every student is deeply motivated to go out there and use their vote to change the direction of the country and that everyone remains respectful towards one another, no matter who they vote for and why.
