Students rush to class after the warning bell

Ever since the first day back from break, there’s a difference besides schedule changes and a new semester. There’s a warning bell.

The point of the warning bell is to warn distracted students that class will come into session in one minute.

“I want people to be confused about it and think that they’re late when they aren’t yet,” principal Mr. Nelson said.

The reason that there wasn’t an announcement about it is because if an announcement were made then people would understand and ignore the warning bell, defeating the purpose. Mr. Nelson wants there to be an “artificial deadline” so people get to class because there are too many tardies to count.

According to Mr. Nelson, the feedback he said he has received is positive from people, but some students have mixed views.

“It confuses me so much, but it’s probably from all the people waiting around in the hall and talking instead of going to class,” junior Grace Fiordimondo said. “I don’t understand why we have it now and I personally don’t like it.”

Another student likes the new bell.

“I really like it,” sophomore Abbi Davis said. “It’s so confusing I get to class a minute early.”

Take the warning bell and use it as an indicator to get back to class and stop being tardy.
