For the 16th year, world languages teacher Dee Elder has inducted students into Delta Epsilon Phi (the national German Honor Society). Elder has recently brought an organization called Delta Epsilon Phi to Liberty for its second consecutive year.
Six students were inducted on March 17. The ceremony consisted of Elder starting off with a short written speech about how far the students have gotten along their journey taking German.
“These kids put in the effort on their half, they excel in class in ways to better their achievement overall,” Elder said. “They have an outside of school drive to learn more and be engaged.”

Elder handed out certificates to all of her inductees along as having them hold fake candles to begin the induction. With special guest head principal Dr. Nelson in attendance, she ended the ceremony with handing out desserts like cupcakes and cookies.
“I feel really important and I’m really happy to take part in something really cool,” Apsara Sirajudeen (10) said. “Especially because German is so different from other languages.”
