Everyone begins to pack away the Thanksgiving decorations and take out the glistening tinsel and sparkling lights. When they turn on the Christmas music to get in the mood, was that the first time this year?

The holiday season brings around one of the biggest arguments. When is it okay to listen to Christmas music? The debate floats through the hallways and in classrooms. When teachers play Christmas music during work time, does it make you want to cringe or do you sing along?

Junior Katie Elzer is happy to sing along to the festive carols, being a supporter of listening to Christmas music year long.

“It’s always okay to listen to Christmas music,” said Elzer.

Another person who believes in year long Christmas music is sophomore Michael Knapp.  Knapp says his favorite song is, “‘Carol of the Bells’ cause it’s awesome,” and you can probably catch him blaring it through his headphones in the hallway.

The other side of the argument is beginning to listen to Christmas music a couple months before.

“I start listening to Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving but I hear it being played from others before that,” sophomore Rylee Peanick said.

Peanick doesn’t mind when other people listen to Christmas music earlier, but you won’t catch her listening to any festive tunes.

“I don’t really listen to Christmas music, but typically I do after Thanksgiving,” freshman Connor McVey said.

With both sides vouched for, when do you think the appropriate time to listen to Christmas music is? Either way, the holidays are about coming together and having fun, so Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
