For the first time in school history, a high school football game live stream has live broadcasters. Mason Molitor (11) and Wesley Bartlow (10) joined the livestream team in the press box on Sept. 20 for commentary against the rival North Point Grizzlies.
This is a new addition for LHS Publications and is a unique opportunity for students who have a passion for sports broadcasting.
“It was a cool opportunity that I knew I would regret if I passed it up, and I’ve been looking for something that may help me jumpstart a career, and broadcasting is something I’ve always been interested in,” Molitor said.
Football livestream producer Braden Altrup (12) is very excited to finally have live broadcasters for the football games.
“Having them as a part of my team has probably been one of the best choices I’ve made for livestreams.” Altrup said. “Not only are they surprisingly talented at it, but they also have that passion for sports media that some other students don’t.”
Molitor and Bartlow showed their true personalities throughout the entire game calling every play of the game, being as specific as they could be. They started preparing for the game a week in advance, learning player names and numbers, watching film, and studying plays.
This was a new experience for both of them. Neither of them had been in the pressbox for a football game or broadcasted a football game live.
“It felt exciting to be a part of the first broadcasting team, being able to be up there in the press box and talk with Mason is, I think, my best memory of a football game I have had,” Bartlow said.
Molitor said he was honored to be the first student to do this in the school and possibly district.
“It was really exciting as well, and I hope the people who watched the livestream enjoyed it because I know I did, and we’re looking forward to continuing this project,” Molitor said.
With this addition to the football livestream group, it is the only football live stream in the area, with real broadcasters, real microphones, and real gameplay coverage.
