Everyone knows that the student section is a crucial part of football games. Students from all different crowds come together to support their school and have fun with friends every Friday. From the energetic cheers to the crazy memories, the student section is known to be a major contributor to the excitement of school functions.
The Liberty student section is like no other. The energy and enthusiasm coming from the students is just one aspect that makes it unique.
“I think it’s welcoming, and we’re all brought together when we’re there…It’s more energetic, which is good, especially since we’re there to support our school,” Kylie Smith (9) said about the student section atmosphere.
Our students show priority in coming together to cheer the football team to victory. The students also often show support to the sideline cheerleaders and dance team. The band provides the soundtrack, and the students dance with them in between quarters. The unconditional encouragement coming from students truly makes our student section differ from the rest.
However, some students’ motives for attending games stem from the student section itself. Oftentimes, students don’t have a care for the actual football game. Instead, these students focus on their friendships and enjoying themselves.
“I love the school spirit and the outfits and all the themes. I love seeing my friends and getting to hang out with them,” Caroline Blankenship (11) shared, expressing her motive for attending games.
A major component of participation in games are coordinated outfits among students. These outfits are based on the theme of the student section for the particular game. Typically, students look forward to taking pictures and making social media posts about the games and themes, making this a fun tradition which people look forward to.
Ultimately, the student section is an important addition to the high school experience. Students everywhere look forward to being part of it, especially at Liberty.
