Growing up around all kinds of pets most of her life, Josephine Blanton (11) has always had a heart for animals especially snakes as a kid.
“I remember I started wanting snakes after watching all these different videos about them and since then I’ve loved them,” Blanton said.
She now has three snakes in her home named Pugsley, Puff, and Sully. Along with snakes, Blanton homes numerous animals. She has a total of eight currently, including two dogs named Neville and Penelope, a cat named Sir Meow A Lot, the snakes, and two turtles named Nacho and Pepper. Acquiring all of these animals over the years has taken dedication and research to make sure the pets are safe and comfortable with her. Learning what is best for each animal was very important to Blanton.

“Before getting any of my animals I always make sure I have the needed research and ability to care for them. Then, after, I typically wait a few months and make sure I still do want the animal and if I’m confident in my abilities for providing the right care I start actually looking to buy,” Blanton said.
Learning to care for the animals is just part of the job but maintaining them is also in the equation. Blanton isn’t the only human in her house caring for them but, the rest of the family as well.
“To maintain my pets I have a feeding and cleaning schedule for everyone,” Blanton said.
She loves her animals and the passion they have brought to her for her future. She continues to let that light shine when talking about them in setting, her dedication for them, and the love in heart for each and everyone animal.
