FCA, also known as Fellow Christian Athletes, is a club hosted at Liberty on Thursdays during the first half of lunch. This is also one of the most popular clubs at Liberty known for helping students to get closer with God.
At the FCA meetings, everyone meets up in the school’s auditorium. The meetings start approximately 10 minutes after lunch begins. At these meetings there are students who volunteer to go up in front of everyone and preach the word of god and everything he does for us and how we can use his wisdom to grow.
Sullivan Thornton (12) is the main voice during these meetings. He is very close with the lord, but it hasn’t always been like this. Thornton grew up in a Christian household but was never close to the lord until one day he went to a “Jesus Rally” in downtown Orlando and it opened his eyes to what the lord can really do for people.

Thornton joined FCA during his freshman year in 2021 and has continued to show up everyday. His faith gets tested all the time with temptation and doing things to “fit in.”
Thornton’s confidence has had a major increase since he turned to the lord. He feels like he belongs everywhere he goes and no longer has the constant fear of being judged or unwanted.
FCA is a club that welcomes anyone in the school. going to these meetings can help those get closer to God and it can really impact anyone’s life, one of which is Lily Herold (9).
Herold said that going to FCA helps her grow her faith because “it helps me think about the lord during the school day and when I’m stressed about school it makes me stop and think how I have the lord protecting me.”
She goes to every FCA meeting and spends her free time studying the lord and listening to the word of the Bible. This can change our lives and in a good way and reading different verses can also really open the eyes of those around like it did Thorntons, Herold’s and many more to come.
