With a goal-heavy first period and barely any penalties, the Eagles were able to soar past Timberland 6-3 in their only game against each other this season. In winning this game, the Eagles were able to bring home their second win of the season. JV beat Francis Howell Central 2-1 in their first game to start off the season.
“They played really good,” LHS head coach Erik Larkin. “There were some things we need to work on, but 75% of the time, I think it was all on us.”

In the first period, Liberty opened the game with an unassisted goal at 10:40 from Owen Francis (10). Thirty seven seconds later, at 10:03, Blake Shephard (9) scored, with assists going to Brayden McGowen (9) and Francis. Leo Miller (9) got the third goal of the game at 8:41, with an assist from Brayden Balthasar (9).
Timberland got its first goal of the game at 8:29. At 6:57, McGowen responded with the game winning goal with an assist from Teddy Sommerich (9). Kyle Fister (9) got a 2-minute minor penalty for cross-checking at 5:32. The Eagles were able to kill the penalty, not letting Timberland score on the power play. However, Timberland got the last goal of the period at 1:28.
“I think I played pretty well, but I think I could have played better,” Peyton Curry (9) said. “I could have moved the puck more.”
To start the second period, Timberland got a goal at 7:02. The Eagles responded with a goal from Miller at 3:51, with assists from McGowen and Chase Dickerson (9). To end the period, Timberland received a 2-minute minor penalty for cross-checking at 1:39.

The third period was pretty quiet with no penalties and only one goal late in the period. At 34 seconds left in the third, Reid Wells (10) got the final goal, with the assists going to Curry and Dickerson.
JV plays their next game on Saturday, Nov. 8 against Francis Howell at 9:45 at St. Peters Rec Plex.
