The varsity boys tennis team has just wrapped up their season at districts, and what a journey it’s been.
With a mixture of excitement and anticipation filling the air, the players stepped onto the courts, each determined to showcase their hard work and dedication. As the matches unfolded, they pushed themselves to the limit, and when the dust settled, the team placed third overall with three members receiving third in their respective matches as well. The three that placed were Vitor Da Silva (12), Ryan Lankston (11), and Spencer Rigby (10). However, even with placing third, the season ended at districts because only the top two teams move on to state.
Among those who stood out was Ryan Lankston. Even though he finished third, he felt he had more to give.
“I think me personally I should have gotten higher but I ended up losing the match going into it,” Langston said. His competitive spirit showed through, showing just how much he cares about the game and his personal growth within the sport.
Then there was Vitor Da Silva, another key player who played well. Instead of just trying to hit the hardest shots, Da Silva aimed to stay steady and keep his head in the game longer. His focus during the tournament was on consistency.
“I was able to stay in the game for long and only made little mistakes,” Da Silva said. His approach paid off, and he felt proud of the progress he had made throughout the season.
As both players exchanged stories in the aftermath of the districts, they couldn’t help but express their thoughts on how well everyone performed. Da Silva mentioned the pride they felt in their teamwork and the efforts made by all the players. They had worked hard together, spent countless hours practicing, and supported one another through both wins and losses. Looking ahead, Da Silva shared his aspirations, hoping to keep pushing forward in his tennis career.
Overall, the team’s experience at districts was filled with determination and growth. With the season behind them, these athletes are already considering the next steps in their tennis journeys, excited about what lies ahead. It was a powerful reminder that, no matter the outcome, each match is a stepping stone to greater things.
