As we all know, we all go through good and bad times in life whether it’s losing a loved one or being in the hospital. We all have different ways to make ourselves feel better whether that’s taking a deep breath, or taking a nap, but for these athletes, sports are more than just a game. It’s therapy.
Two Liberty freshmen Luis Chavez (9) and Jacob Quinney (9) have both used sports to both motivate themselves, but also have some fun on the way.
Chavez is a varsity soccer player who started playing at a young age and has continued to play it at a high level making varsity as a freshman. Chavez said soccer has helped him keep his composer when he is stressed out. This is what Chavez after being asked what gives him motivation. “It’s a good feeling to know I could go pro and retire my parents,” Chavez said. Chavez feels people should try to play this sport because of the ability to meet new people because who knows you can meet some great people.
On the other hand, Quinney (9) is a center that plays on the freshman football team, Quinney also does wrestling. He was inspired after the Chiefs won Super Bowl 54.
“Sports has really helped me and gave me something to look forward to outside of school,” he said. The main reason Quinney has continued to pursue this sport is because of his love and passion for the game. Quinney encourages other people to play this sport because it shows team bonding and you have a great experience.
This is how you can uses sport for motivation and how it is more than a game.
