A lot of people can agree that we all played with toys when we were kids. Different toys in all different shapes and colors like L.O.L Dolls, Shopkins, or even Batman figurines and monster trucks, but we all had that one specific toy we would run to in the store to gaze at on the shelf wishing we had it, or toys that we would keep attached to our hip not ever letting go. Many people agree that those were some of the best parts of our lives that we can never live up to again.
Most people today have kept their toys from when they were younger although some have also sold theirs. We all can still remember which ones were the most important to us. According to Macailyn Townsend (9), her favorite toys when she was little were Barbies. She mentioned, “I have collected almost every Barbie that came out when I was a kid and I still have them to this day. My favorite Barbie was Raquel because she was the sassiest out of all of them which might be why I am the way I am today.”
In the past, there have been studies that show that depending on what type of toy you loved as a kid might show some things about your personality today.
Looking back from today, most people have noticed big changes in some toys they used to love and praise. There have even been brands that change their whole theme of their toys to different things then they were before.
Teddy Sommerich (9) used to love action figures with a passion especially the Fortnight ones. He stated that his little brother “has action figures now and they are not close to what they were before, which is annoying.” We’re more upset about growing up and leaving our childhood behind than the toys themselves changing.
Overall, growing up is a hard thing to do especially leaving behind our first best friends, watching other little kids have your favorite toys is a heartbreaking thing to see but it’s all about growing up. Changes will happen and new things are to come but those toys will always deep down have such meaningful memories to them that we could never leave behind.
