Halloween is finally here, and Ms. Pizzo’s culinary arts class conjured their wonderful talents to create tasty sweets. A multitude of teachers came in to try all of the desserts, giving them a specific score.

Junior Tai Williams enjoys the class, coming to the competition with a positive mindset and a hope to win.

“It’s a very well taught class, we have a lot of fun,” Williams said. “We took the necessary preparations to win.”

Senior Rachel Roberson has a knack for cooking, specifically baking.

“I want to be a baker, I was going to take a class for it at St. Charles Community College, but took Culinary Arts 3 instead,” Roberson said. “I love any class that involves cooking or Pizzo.”

Ms. Pizzo is proud of her students, and very happy with the results.

The kids love it (the contest), because they can be creative,” Pizzo said.

The students start to prepare for the contest on Oct. 1 by watching Halloween Wars on Food Network. Pizzo gives the students just a few days to prepare and perfect the cooking.

Each group has about 50 minutes to assemble the dishes, and teachers come in the next hour to judge the plates.

Best taste winners were Tai Williams and Claudia Wallace.

Best appearance was a tie between Tai Williams, Claudia Wallace and Nash Gilbo and Calitlynn Chaney.
