In 2015, the Rams left St. Louis fans heartbroken, after they decided to part ways with the state. But in recent years, native St. Louis citizens have found somewhere else to pour their love of football in, the Battlehawks from the United Football League. But how does our local community feel about this uprising in their team?
While it can be said that people from across the state have different opinions on the matter, we wanted to dive deep into what people in our very own community think about the Battlehawks and what they bring into the city.
When entering the Dome on the days that the Battlehawks play, you are not only greeted by the security team, but also the energy that the fans bring into the stadium. When talking to people at the game, many said that they only experienced good energy, along with great vibes, as they feel having the Battlehawks in St. Louis gives them something to look forward too.
Even when you’re not in person at a game, being able to see the energy that the fans bring into the stadium provides hope for many of St. Louis natives as they think this could be their big thing, and something they can celebrate while also spending their Friday nights on.
And when talking to Mr. Wheeler, he expressed that while he loves the Rams, and hated to see them go, he is glad that the Battlehawks bring something to the city.
“I’m happy it gives people in St. Louis something to look forward to, and rep as their own,” Wheeler said.
A lot of students also agree, making it notable that while it might not be the same, they feel grateful to have a team to support.
“I don’t really watch but it’s nice it brings something to the city,” Eleanor Revelle (10) said.
Overall, a bunch of people in our community feel as if the Battlehawks have given them a place to look forward too, even if they aren’t as intrigued. But what do you think? Should we rep the Battlehawks next season?
