A rising tide lifts all ships, and the Blues’ sea is no exception.
Kirsten Pinkham’s favorite sport is hockey. Of course, she’s never played a game.
Pinkham’s passion for the game was first sparked as she traveled to Blues events with her father, becoming instantly enraptured in the rich emotion of the game.
“Hockey is such an expressive sport,” Pinkham said., “You can tell exactly when the team wins, or loses, or scores, just by their face. Their physicality is so strong.”
It was this intrigue and artistic eye towards a contrastingly brutal sport that led Pinkham to explore journalism, and to begin working for our Liberty Eagle hockey team. The experience thus far has been visceral, feeling the team’s successes and failures as though it were her own.
With each ebb and flow of the season, Kirsten was there, capturing the narrative on camera.
As Pinkham’s engagement grew, so did the publicity for the team. Being a somewhat invisible sport at Liberty, as they practice in an arena separate from the school, the documentation through the rosegold lens of photography has been essential to spread the world, and build team morale.
In fact, Pinkham was invited to the team’s banquet, and given the opportunity to continue assisting the team, this time in the realm of social media.
“I have a ton of ideas. Interviews, TikTok, micing players during practice,” Pinkham’s quipped excitedly. “I am so excited to give these guys the publicity they deserve.”
Collaboration defies the rules of competition. For Pinkham and the Liberty Eagles, this is a win-win.
