Proposition fire intends to change funding for emergency fire protection services.

A 1% increase in sales tax has been proposed within Central County, O’Fallon, Augusta, Cottleville, Wentzville, New Melle, Orchard Farm, Rivers Pointe, and Lake St. Louis in order to provide operation revenue for their respective fire districts. The ballot contains separate propositions for each district, meaning each has the opportunity to accept or reject the 1% increase in sales tax for their location.

Additionally, property taxes would be reduced by 50% of the amount of revenue produced by the 1% increase in sales tax.

Our Goal

Your donation will support the student journalists of Liberty High School. For the 2025-26 school year, we are trying to purchase additional cameras and video equipment for our growing media program. We also plan to attend the national journalism conference in Orlando in November 2026.

Keena Boschert is a senior in her third year of Publications. Outside of Journalism, she is a member of Drama Club, Model UN, Earth Club, and SDA. Passionate about the planet and conservation, she is planning to pursue her Bachelor’s in Environmental Sciences after high school. When not at Liberty, she spends a lot of her time working at Panera, sleeping, and hanging out with loved ones. She can’t wait for another great four issues of “The Ledger!”
