The girls’ varsity tennis team faced off against Fort Zumwalt West last week on Sept. 4 in a challenging match. This match marked their first away match of the season. The matches were filled with tight sets and close plays, showcasing the team’s determination and growing talents.
Sophomores Hannah Eudy and Natalie Cole were key players in the lineup. Before the game, the players talked a little about pre-game jitters.
“I’m a little nervous to play at an away game, they know the court and have a home court advantage,” Hannah Eudy (10) said. Eudy went a little more in detail saying further explain that she thinks Fort Zumwalt West is pretty good at tennis. Eudy, though nervous, also expressed her excitement about what was to come from the away match.
Although away matches are always a little more difficult, both players were ready to show what they could do.
Cole showed her excitement towards the match and took a chance to show her support. When asked about the highlights, Cole got the chance to show her sportsmanship towards the team.
“I got to watch some of my teammates win their matches,” Cole (10) said.
The matches were exciting and entertaining, with both teams giving it their all. Despite the individual efforts and overall team spirits, Liberty came up just short with the day ending in a 6-3 loss.
The two rising stars, though disappointed in the result, are determined and ready for redemption with their next matches on Monday, Sept. 8 at Holt.
