The boys varsity soccer team has taken a few falls this season compared to last year but they’ve done pretty well having their record be 5-5-1.
The first game for the GAC divisional cup is vs Warrenton on Oct. 7. Warrenton’s record so far is 9-2. They have lost against Orchard Farm and St. Charles. Most of the games they’ve won so far have also been shutout games, meaning the other team did not score any goals.
The next game is vs. Francis Howell North on Oct. 9. That gives the Eagles a little time to practice in between the games. They have already beat Francis Howell North 4-1 in the third game of the season and their first game of the season. Their record is 6-5 so far this season. The team believes this will be a tough match but we will come out on top in the end.
The following week the Eagles play North Point on Oct. 14. They have already defeated North Point 9-2 in our second game of the season. North Point’s record so far this season is 7-7. The team thinks this will be a very easy win for us to go into the fourth match.
After the Eagles go against North Point, the final match for the tournament will be against St. Charles at the Nest. Their record is 6-5 so far this season.
“I think that St. Charles may be better than everyone expects but we should still win,” goalkeeper Austin Kelly (12) said.
James Naphakorn (11) is very confident in himself and our team that the Eagles will win this tournament.
“I think I’ll do good in every game,” Naphakorn said. Coach Luedecke also thinks they will do well considering they didn’t make it to the top tournament for GACs.
The team will be very focused in the practice they have before the game to prepare to go against Warrenton. At practice today they went over film to see all of the mistakes they made.
Since the team believes they will win every game in this tournament, they believe that this will give them a lot of confidence going into districts with these wins under their belts.
