Family is everything, especially for the freshman baseball team.
“We always pick each other up and when we yell at each other, it’s for a good reason,” Charlie Knoten (9) said. As their season unfolds, it’s clear that what keeps them thriving isn’t just their skills on the field, but the strong bond they’ve built off the diamond. So far this season, they’ve led a 11-0 record, which is considered a major improvement since last year’s 14-20 record.

These boys also pray together before every game. It’s a pre-game ritual. The team puts up with early morning workouts to keep them disciplined mentally and physically. Their next opponent will be at home against Timberland, which the freshman team hasn’t beaten in seven years. Coach Kingery trusts in these boys enough to know that no matter what happens, they always have each other’s backs and lift each other’s spirits up.
A lot of frustration and anger arose when they fell short to North Point, their first loss of the season.
“I was just really mad in the moment,” Rocky Clark (9) said.
The freshman baseball team’s journey is a powerful reminder that success isn’t about talent– it’s the relationships they have with each other that inspire players to give their best every single day.
