People deal with emotion in a variety of ways, but freshman Chynna Yeh handles hers in a unique way. She writes.

Yeh has been writing since second grade, her first accomplishment being a book of short stories that was placed her classroom library.

Since then, she has completed a variety of other works, such as her poem “Fly like the Ravens” that was published in “2016-2017 Celebration of Poems” by Wildfire Publications when she was in 6th grade, and her recently completed story “101 Portals” that she’s been working since 7th grade.

“Writing allows me to get my feelings out and when I’m getting stressed, it’s a good way to get a break,” Yeh said. “It feels good to get all my ideas out on paper.”

Yeh also draws inspiration from her friends, who often help encourage her.

Chynna’s writing is unique because you almost feel like you’re inside of the story,” Yeh’s close friend, Norah Wibbenmeyer said. “You can become immersed in her writing so easily and get caught up in it so much so, that you almost lose track of what is happening around you. I try and provide suggestions and opinions when she gets stuck to help to keep her motivated.”

Wibbenmeyer has read many of Yeh’s works and is dedicated to helping the aspiring author reach her deserved recognition.
