Anna Simms, Editor-in-Chief of LHStoday.org

Anna Simms is the editor-in-chief of LHStoday.org and this is her third year in publications. She is also in her senior year and second year at SCC. After high school, Anna plans on going to a university to study biomedical sciences, and later get a doctorate. She is also a part of Liberty’s drama club as an executive board member, and has done both acting and tech. Outside of school, you can find Anna either taking photos, editing, hanging out with friends, listening to music, or reading!

Sophomore Julia Miller performs a routine with the Liberty Spirit Squad during the annual Swofford game assembly, which was held on April 4 in the gymnasium. This is an annual fundraiser that provides two $1,000 scholarships for two Liberty seniors. This game resulted in the staff members winning 41-26, continuing their winning streak.

During the seventh annual talent show, junior Divya Kollipara performs a classic dance originating from southern India known as Bharatanatyam.” Dance means everything to me,” Kollipara said. “I can put in all my emotions into it and create an amazing performance that people can enjoy.” Kollipara said. At the end of the night, Kollipara was announced as the judges choice winner of the talent show. “I was not expecting to win, I felt very honored and grateful that I won.”

The Liberty Jazz Bands recently participated in a jazz festival on Feb.26 where they got critical feedback on their performances from two clinicians. One clinician was Bijon Watson, who is famous for his work in La La Land, Secret Life of Pets, Despicable Me 2, and Epic. The other clinician was Todd Williams, four-time recipient of the SCAPs Plus Award for Composers, originally known for his saxophone and clarinet performance with the Wynton Marsalis Quintet and Septet and the Lincoln Center Jazz orchestra. He is now an Assistant Professor for the Music Education program at Indiana Wesleyan University. Overall, four different bands performed including North Point, Holt, Libertys Jazz, and Jazz Too.
