Anna Simms, Editor-in-Chief of LHStoday.org

Anna Simms is the editor-in-chief of LHStoday.org and this is her third year in publications. She is also in her senior year and second year at SCC. After high school, Anna plans on going to a university to study biomedical sciences, and later get a doctorate. She is also a part of Liberty’s drama club as an executive board member, and has done both acting and tech. Outside of school, you can find Anna either taking photos, editing, hanging out with friends, listening to music, or reading!

Board members Julie Scott, David Lewis, Katie Lyczak and Jason Goodson listen to parents, teachers, and students voice their concerns at the regulatory school board meeting. This meeting was held Oct. 19, at Peine Ridge Elementary and lasted nearly five hours. The school board and Dr. Tormala met in an emergency meeting on April 11 when it was determined that she will take an immediate sabbatical and retire from the district by the end of the year.

This is an annual fundraiser that provides two $1,000 scholarships for two Liberty seniors. This game resulted in the staff members winning 41-26, continuing their winning streak.

At the end of the night, Kollipara was announced as the judges choice winner of the talent show. “I was not expecting to win, I felt very honored and grateful that I won.”

The Liberty Jazz Bands recently participated in a jazz festival on Feb.26 where they got critical feedback on their performances from two clinicians. One clinician was Bijon Watson, who is famous for his work in La La Land, Secret Life of Pets, Despicable Me 2, and Epic. The other clinician was Todd Williams, four-time recipient of the SCAPs Plus Award for Composers, originally known for his saxophone and clarinet performance with the Wynton Marsalis Quintet and Septet and the Lincoln Center Jazz orchestra. He is now an Assistant Professor for the Music Education program at Indiana Wesleyan University. Overall, four different bands performed including North Point, Holt, Libertys Jazz, and Jazz Too.
