The homecoming assembly is an anticipated assembly that everyone is ready to attend. During 9th hour on Oct. 3, all of the students went to the gym and had a blast with all of their friends watching the pep assembly.
The STUCO president Andrea Finklang (12) and VP, Chandler Hirtz (11) welcomed everyone to the assembly.
One event that occurred was the Olympic themed sport show off. Two of every fall sport athlete for each program showcased a sign and shared some fun facts about their sport.
Liberty Cheer and the Belles provided an outstanding performance with each of their unique talents. You could tell that the crowd was very impressed with both performances.
After that, the Spirit King and Queen were announced. Lilly Brown (12) won for her second time as Spirit Queen the other time being two years ago during her sophomore year.
“I did not think I was going to win because I had already won before,” Brown said.
Spirit King was a sophomore, Nicholas Kuhn.
“I just wanted to be part of the school and represent school spirit,” Kuhn said.
Throughout this week, teachers have been competing in various competitions to win the teacher Olympics. The announced winners were: Mr. Tutterow won bronze, Mr. Walterbach won silver and Mrs. Tock won gold.
One of the most entertaining activities during assembly was the teacher race. Each member of a subject group flew around on little cart scooters during a race and the fastest one who finishes wins. The admins turned out to be on top winning the competition.
“We are all highly competitive people and we may have practiced in the gym before the assembly started,” Dr. Kiely, assistant principal, said.
Following the race is a crowd favorite. This event was the sibling battles where Liberty’s siblings try to run and pop balloons on top of each other fastest time wins.
The winner of the sibling race was Chandler and Ainsley Hirtz (9).
“I was super excited about the competition,” Hirtz said.
As the assembly came to an end, the Belles and Bros teamed up to show their dancing skills.
Finally, the Homecoming court nominees.
These nominees are, Mason Banfield (12) and Natalie Zeman (12); Shaun Dobratz (12) and Margot Revelle (12), and Logan Hinds (12)and Clara Walker (12).
The winner was then announced at the homecoming football game. Revelle and Dobratz ended up winning and taking home the crowns.
The Homecoming assembly is always an entertaining time to show how much Liberty loves to have fun and show all of the school spirit we have.
